When the Bristol branch of the YMCA announced that they were going to convert the listed old CID building on Bridewell Street in Bristol, Story Design was delighted to help with the interior design. Part of the Bridewell Island complex built in the late 1920’s, the building had been used for a number of purposes since the police vacated the site in the late 1980’s. The building has now been completely transformed into a hostel that also provides spaces for at risk young people

Designed by Architects Fergusson Mann Associates, Rupert Perkins Contractors and Kenton Simons, a scheme was developed that aimed to respect its character. The simplistic design preserved many original features while upgrading the building to make it suitable. Featuring our Original 1227 Wall lights which fit beautifully into the interior providing attractive and functional light.
